Belgian prisons are bursting at the seams and under extreme pressure. Never before have so many people been behind bars, and never before have so many inmates been forced to sleep on the floor. The new documentary series 'Prison Directors' follows eight directors as they try to keep their prisons running and livable while the system is crumbling. The series offers a unique look behind bars and highlights the challenges prison directors face on a daily basis. They receive new inmates, conduct disciplinary hearings, and give tours to ministers and journalists. But they also fold laundry and serve meals when they’re forced to step in during strike days. Day after day, they search for solutions to problems for which there are no ready-made answers.
